Political Undercurrents

There are many fascinating political stories that are being ignored by the mainstream media. The point of this blog is to be ahead of the curve, to find out what is really happening out there and how it will affect the race politically. For today’s post I have decided to focus on some stories that have great importance, but may not be known widely yet. Lets take a look at some important stories you may be missing:

Obama Is Struggling With Jewish Voters- The Christian Science Monitor has a piece about how a once solid democratic constituency, Jewish voters, maybe softening and breaking away from Obama:

In a national survey released Sept. 25 by the nonpartisan American Jewish Committee (AJC), the Democratic nominee had the support of 57 percent of Jewish adults, 12 percent less than Sen. John Kerry at the same time in the 2004 campaign. Senator McCain had 30 percent, with 13 percent still undecided.

This election is going to be based, I believe, on enthusiasm and heavy base turnout. We keep hearing about how excited Obama voters are, but this is an important group and if Obama under performs with them, that can make all the difference in swing states.

Early Voting Weak In Ohio- Obama has the money, the media and the manpower, but for all the hype the results have not been that impressive.  Take early voting in Ohio which just ended and you will see even with the help of ACORN fraudulently registering people, the Obama campaign busing in college kids, and “get out the vote” hype, not much happened. This is from the Campaign Spot:

And the anecdotal evidence was that the Obama campaign was readying the Mother of All Turnout Operations in this state. The Washington Post poll of Ohioans, 40 percent said they had been contacted by the Obama campaign either in person or by phone, an astonishingly high percentage. Bruce Springsteen was doing a concert at Ohio State University to get people out for early voting. Cuba Gooding Jr. was deployed to events in Dayton, Hamilton, Lima and Toledo.

So, with all of this buildup, the total early voter turnout?

28,466.

Out of about 8.2 million registered voters.

That is a little bit more than three-tenths of one percent.

Time for a change indeed, maybe a change in staff perhaps? For all the hype of the “Obama Get Out The Vote Machine,” they don’t have much to show for it.

White Working Class Voters Unmoved By Obama- While the media continues to take the simplistic view that a bad economy equals an Obama victory, folks in Ohio don’t see it that way.  This excerpt is from The New Yorker and is titled The Hardest Vote:

Four women of retirement age were sitting at the next table. All of them spoke warmly of Palin. “She’d fit right in with us,” Greta Jennice said. “We should invite her over.” None had a good word to say about Obama. “I think he’s a radical,” a white-haired woman who wouldn’t give her name said. “The church he went to, the people he associated with. You don’t see the media digging into that.”

“I don’t know anyone who’s for Obama,” said Jennice, a Democrat who supported Hillary Clinton and who won’t vote in November.

This is a fascinating piece by the New Yorker, it goes on to talk about how many lower middle class voters feel as if the “Democratic party has left us.” They have concerns about Obama’s health care plan and they believe the party has become “elite.” I am telling you, there is something going on out there among once solidly democratic voters that should have the party very worried.

Final Thoughts- I know the elite media, and I include some conservatives in this, have basically told you this election is over, but its not.  McCain has about a month left to make his case to the many undecided voters out there. There is also new information about Obama that is set to be uncovered today, my colleague Scott Martin at Conservatism Today has the full story about Obama’s membership in “The New Party.” This could end up being a big story, expect it covered on many blogs and talk radio, so we will have to stay tuned. Also launching this morning is a scathing new ad from Team McCain about William Ayers, to which I say, finally. Until next time…

Not to worry friends. Hot, bright and hilarious Sarah Silverman is on the case. Check out HER VIDEO .

    2. “Early Voting Weak In Ohio”

So 28,000 votes in five counties alone, in the first week, isn’t significant? Considering that John Kerry lost Ohio in 2004 by a little more than 100,000 votes, this could end up being the difference. Obviously there are a lot of concerned Republicans since the talk radio hacks are crying fraud about it. Either way, the real story is that Ohio has seen a 9% increase in voter registration this year and the Sec. of State anticipates an 80% turnout on election day.

Where’s the hard data to back up your assumption? You only offer some anecdotal evidence from The New Yorker. I thought you guys said that those elitists are out-of-touch with ordinary Americans?

  2. Elizabeth Says:

I have done some research on my own Nancy and I fully believe what you are saying is true. I have talked to SEVERAL “die hard” democrats who are scared to death of Obama…. not for the idiotic “race” issue (that is such a stupid excuse) but because of the TERRORIST associations. Every layer you uncover on Obama is laced with America hating radicals and Stallin- style intimidation tactics (ACORN). Good job Nancy– you could well be right!

Merge, so the big plan to shore up Jewish Americans is Sarah Silverman? Wow, your right, problem solved. To your next point, the 28,000 were not all for Obama, though you may hope they are, and yes less then half a percentage is insignificant, though you would like to think otherwise. The “hard data” to back up the New Yorker piece can be found in the internals of any poll. Most polls, when broken down by party ID, show that McCain has more support from break away democrats then vice versa. Also, more Republicans support McCain then Democrats support Obama. By the way, I’m not “you conservatives,” I read the New Yorker and peruse almost every major paper to find out the real story about whats going on out there.

Good blog Nancy…the more I learn about Obama, the scarier he is. AND…people need to remember the “Sarah” factor… Sarah could set this whole election on it’s ear.

Great post today Nancy. Finally we are getting to the real Obama. It took the New York Times to finally give permission to the rest of the main stream media to cover the Ayers association.
I wonder if any main stream media source will cover Obama’s support of Muslim Luo tribe, Odinga, a Kenyan thug that forced a power sharing arrangement when he lost the election by encouraging his supporters to riot destroying Christian Churches and killing people. There is a reason people are worried about Obama’s judgement and we still don’t really know who he is. It scares people and many Democrats will not vote for him.

  7. James Says:

Great post as usual, I think we are in for an interesting push to the end. I can’t wait to see the MSM the morning after if Obama loses. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the MSM blame the loss on race. But as I think about it, the people who won’t vote for Obama because he’s black is probably countered by the people who are voting for Obama because he is black.

By the way, merge is it, so I guess having Tony Romo registered in Nevada and 105 percent of indianpolis registerd to vote is perfectly normal? Yeah your right, talk radio is insane, there couldnt possibly be fraud in that could there?

  8. Chris Wysocki Says:

Nancy, I wish I shared your optimism. Keep trying to cheer me up though, I’m surrounded by Obamamaniacs and they’re wearing me down. I think people have forgotten just how dreadful Jimmy Carter was as president and they’re willing to put our country in the hands of a new and improved Jimmy Carter V2.0, twice the socialism, twice the pandering to international elites, and half the patriotism of the original.

Even my wife has gone over to the Dark Side (ooh, can I say that; will I be labeled as a racist?); she says McCain is “too old” and The One is hip, cool, and full of new ideas. I tried to tell he he’s full of something alright, but it ain’t new ideas…

  9. Bob Scuba Says:

    Hi Chris
No one could blame you now if you feel it’s time for a new wife. Next wife has to be a Conservative and love the same NFL team as you do. ;)

  10. alinla Says:

Chris, I feel your pain. My 86 yeal old dad, a life long Republican who still says Nixon got a raw deal, says he is voting for Obama because “He reminds me of Tiger Woods.”

Also, Nancy when you say “the Democratic nominee had the support of 57 percent of Jewish” it does not sound like he is “struggling” with Jewish voters.

  11. nswider Says:

Its the lowest percentage for a democrat in recent history. Getting half of a once solidly democratic group is struggling, its the equivalent of a republican only getting 50 percent of Utah. Not good.

  12. New Conservative Says:

How about adding me to your blog roll, or better yet make a new blog roll entitled Conservative Conglomerate. That’s for everyone who agreed to go in with Scott. I know three of us already have it up.

  13. Clyde Says:

I think with the New Party membership and American Thinker’s “Who wrote Dreams From My Father” issues, we are starting to see the man behind the curtain – it isn’t Obama.

He’s been coddled and guided since Columbia University.

    Remarkable picture developing.

  14. elwoodin Says:

I think it is wonderful that he is struggling with the Jewish voters. After all, he once said that Jewdism, was a gutter religion. They shouldn’t stand for him. And this whole thing that is coming up about ACORN now and Obama’s participation with this….and of course Ayers, Obama I think is going to find out that people are going to be turning away from him.

    Great post girl.

    -Robert-

  15. Jim B. Says:

Nancy I am so happy to have saved your life when you were little so you could grow up and be a true conservative. You are at your best when the truth is blogged out to the world. I like your new page it is great and your insight to the poltical trash that is being tossed all around us. Keep it up !!!!!

  16. RobP Says:

In addition to the already juicy topics your discussing it appears that the Obama team has served you up another juicy topic of discussion: http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/oct/10/obama-sought-to-sway-iraqis-on-bush-deal/
Obama actively tried to sway Iraqis on Bush troop deal for election purposes. I look forward to any comments you chose to make on this as Drudge just broke this a few hours ago. This may be yet another example of a democrat opening a door into their own face. I wonder if these clandestine thwarting sessions with the Iraqi president will be shown in the new Obama movie? I somehow doubt it, but wouldn’t it be nice.
