Sunday Reads

Hey everyone! As promised yesterday, here are some cool stories to check out!

The Dumbest Story Ever- If you want to laugh at the desperation of the Obama media, read this insipid AP story attacking Sarah Palin. Desperate.

More Obama Robots- It is just kind of pathetic at this point, I really feel sorry for these people.  The latest Obama worship comes from this African American fraternity. Disturbing.

Team Heidi- When a girl from the Hills on MTV makes the most sense in Hollywood and has the best values, well, we all might be doomed. Rest assured though doom and gloomers, McCain and Palin are going to win because Heidi is praying for Sarah.

We Could All Learn A Lesson From The Elderly- Like I said in a previous post, this race is not going to be won by youth, but by the elderly.  In this story, it shows that these old timers are doing the work we ought to be doing, volunteering and getting out the vote.

Final Thoughts- I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday, I will be back tomorrow with an original post. Until then, enjoy these stories and enjoy your family! Until tomorrow…

Sarah Sparkles

There are moments in life when you feel as if you are a part of something, as if you are a witness to something historic and momentous. That is what I felt when I was watching Sarah Palin in this debate. She wasn’t perfect, she made mistakes, but she had a luminous quality about her.  If Vice Presidential debates have not mattered before, they matter now. Bullied by the press, conservative and liberal, Sarah shone in the debate. A weaker person, under the scrutiny she was and with the limited experience she had, probably would have floundered. The Democrats were salivating in their desire to turn her into Dan Quayle; they failed. Here is why she won:

Expectations Are Everything- The media played a pivotal part in Sarah’s victory. Gleefully they mocked her, late night television, cable news, SNL, liberal bloggers, and lets not forget the conservative elitists in our own party. So expectations for the VP debate were low, I confess I was even nervous for her going into it, but I knew it would be to my detriment to underestimate her. Sarah met and exceeded all expectations, she wasn’t a policy wonk and we knew she wouldn’t be, but she was something Joe Biden could never be. A leader.

Folks Have To Like You Before They Vote For You- Lets think back to Obama circa last February and you will understand why this is so important.  Hillary Clinton should have been beating this guy handily, but he had a likeability she just couldn’t match. Joe Biden, was Hillary Clinton at this debate. His constant sigh and smirks, not to mention the anger emanating from him, just made him look arrogant. Sarah on the other hand was smiling and likable. She gave a shout out to third graders and said “dogonit”; you just do not get more likable and real then that. She was Middle America personified and I promise you in places like Ohio, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Virginia that will resonate.

Final Thoughts- This is McCain’s to win or lose now. Sarah did all she could do and more. It will be up to him to, once again, use Palin’s energy to his advantage. With the bailout bill set to pass tomorrow and the campaign likely to normalize, I think its safe to say that this race is going to even out once again.  Sarah, and the rest of us, can relax and enjoy our weekend. Finally I would like to say a special thank you to Patriot Room for hosting another great live forum for the debate. To all of you who joined us thank you for coming. I would love to hear your thoughts and insights, feel free to share your opinion; I would love to read what you have to say. Until next time…

Defining Moment For Palin

Adversity can either reveal greatness or expose inherit weakness in a person. Tonight’s debate is about so much more than this campaign for Sarah Palin; it is either the beginning or an end to a political career. Sarah has shown us moments of excellence; there is a type of magic to her and an intensity that only a select few of us possess. She has been a great Governor of Alaska and has risen to the national spotlight based on hard work and grace. But will tonight be the beginning of the end?

Despite a shining start Governor Palin has faded a bit in television interviews and has become the favorite object of liberal and sometimes even conservative ridicule. She can end all of this tonight; this is her moment. It is her moment to hit back at her critics, to assert herself and defend her name. Sarah Palin has had her family trashed, her integrity questioned and she has withstood it with dignity, but also uncertainty. Sarah Palin either fades away tonight or she rises from the ashes and becomes the star many believe she was born to be.

What She Needs To Accomplish- These are the elements I will be watching for tonight and what I believe will be the keys to her success:

  • Make Answers Succinct- Sarah has the tendency to speak in run on sentences and tends to get herself into trouble when she over thinks and over speaks an answer. This isn’t necessary, be warm without being overly loquacious.
  • Attack- Everyone knows Sarah is likable and warm, but we need to see the tough attack dog we saw at the convention. It is the job of the Vice Presidential nominee to go after the Presidential nominee. This is where she shines and must make the effort tonight.
  • If You Don’t Know, Fake It- If Sarah doesn’t know the answer to a question, I am sure there is a similar answer in the category given that she does know the answer to. Confidently shift subjects, politicians do this all of the time, so long as its done artfully.

Final Thoughts- These are my takes and I would love to know your opinion on the debate as it is happening. I, and some other great bloggers, will be moderating the debate from The Patriot Room. We welcome all of you there and look forward to your comments!

Media On The Attack

I want to prepare you, dear reader, for the onslaught that is about to befall the Republicans and John McCain. We all know that the mainstream media is in the tank for Obama, but we are about to see the lengths they will go to get him elected. The media is on a mission and I want you to understand and realize that whatever you are seeing on television or reading in news reports, it is all designed to help Barack Obama. The media is in a fighting mode; they feel that they are close to victory so expect them to turn up the heat. Take a look at the quote below that a media source sent Instapundit, on the condition of anonymity :

Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in Arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into Obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working.

As we get closer to this election, one Obama might very well win if McCain doesn’t go on serious offence, this is what you should be looking for from our media in the near future.

Palin Debate, Even If She Wins She Loses- Our so called “conservative media commentators” the ones that are supposed to be on our side, have turned into gutless wimps. So eager are they to be liked by their liberal pals they will go along with the media spin of the debates. If Sarah even has one moment, one little thing off about her performance, they are going to pounce. Even if Joe Biden makes several mistakes or gives weak answers its not going to matter. The media has their marching orders. Its going to be up to talk radio and frankly bloggers to tell the truth about what happens at the debate. Remember, you know what you are watching; if you think she did well others will too. Don’t trust what you hear on television, don’t trust the polls, remember there is a narrative going on and they are trying to depress our vote. Don’t let them.

McCain Death Stories- This AP story is just the beginning:

McCain would be the oldest president to begin a first term in office. By the end of a second term, Jan. 20, 2017, he would have a 24.44 percent chance of dying, compared with 5.76 percent for Obama, the firm estimates.

The firm estimates that McCain has a health expectancy of 8.4 years, while Obama can expect another 21.9 years of good health. The calculations are from January 2009, covering two terms in office for either candidate. McCain, if he’s like others in his age group, would have a cushion of just about five months.

This is just complete and utter manipulation on the AP’s part. John McCain if he is elected will have the best health care in the world. Dick Cheney had how many heart surgeries in office? Cheney is a guy who should frankly not be with us any longer, but he is and so will McCain. Scare tactics to be sure, but expect media outlets to pick up on this story and expand it.

Final Thoughts- This is going to be an all out media assault. Its going to come from entertainment shows like Saturday Night Live and every other media outlet. The media does not care this year about their credibility; they just want to win. Steve Schmidt needs to unleash some genius maneuvers like we saw with the “celebrity” ads. Now’s the time Steve, lets get this going. Also to the media, be careful what you wish for. If Obama wins and it’s a Democratic congress, who are you going to blame then?
